Santander design library
Trying to keep a banking Design system for Web and APP is not easy, I was the guardian behind Santander designs, being able to clean and get rid of bad practices inside the libraries, making sure that anyone using the library from Devs, Designers to PO’S and new designers coming in the project will quickly understand.
Design
Defining a library style and structure takes some time, but when is done and works is a big relief for all the team involve, is something that if is wrong made since the beginning it will get bigger and bigger and everyone will start noticing, a good Design System goes smooth and makes no problems in the future.
Deliver
Codes for developers and names for designers, a name convention and logic that works for both, for each component we defined exceptions, and gave examples on how it should be use in the design, trying to minimise all loop holes that we encounter while developing templates, at the end even Po’s were able to build quick concepts from scratch just using the libraries without any designers help.
